Spring Garden Wedding on Bainbridge Island

Late May provides SO much flower goodness in the PNW. It’s still early enough in the season where the flowers blooming are smaller and more delicate than the ones we find towards the end of summer. The florals I designed for Luke + Avery are by far the most requested when clients inquire with me, so I figured I’d give them their very own blog post. The delicate, seasonal blooms paired perfectly with their spring garden wedding at The Manor House at Pleasant Beach on Bainbridge Island. Madeline Rose Photography captured the day beautifully!

The Venue: The Manor House at Pleasant Beach

The Manor House at Pleasant Beach is a stunning location if you’re planning an outdoor wedding with garden vibes, away from the city, and timeless beauty. The Manor itself is an original Tudor-style building overlooking the Puget Sound, perfect for summer sunsets! The grounds are well maintained with blooming vines, a peaceful fountain, and native shrubs.

Located just a 20 minute ferry ride from downtown Seattle, The Manor House at Pleasant Beach is convenient enough for guests coming to your wedding while also feeling like it’s worlds away from a major city. The wedding party and guests can enjoy staying at The Manor House in one of their 22 guest rooms and suites. Each room is tastefully designed, comfortable, and perfect for getting ready with your wedding party.

Getting Ready with zo & co styling

Avery and Luke got ready in separate areas of the manor. Avery and her bridesmaids got ready in the Townhouse Suite which was perfect for her bridal party of 8. The Townhouse Suite has 3 bedrooms, 2.25 bathrooms, and a view overlooking the historic Lynwood Center.

Zo and Co Styling arrived around 9 to do all the hair and makeup for the gals. The Townhouse has so much space it was perfect for the stylist to work while family and vendors came in and out that morning. I arrived just as Avery was finishing with her styling and then showed her how to hold her bouquet. She was a natural and loved it! I was able to deliver all the bouquets and set them on the kitchen island for the bride and bridesmaid to grab when they were photo ready.

Meanwhile, Luke was getting ready in one of the rooms upstairs at The Manor House. I brought up all the boutonnieres and had them prepped and ready to go once the boys got there. It always amazes me how little time it takes they guys to get ready…

The Dress

Avery and her STUNNING dress and veil made the hike up the stairs from the Townhouse Suite to where Luke was waiting for her for the first look. I love how timeless and elegant Avery looked in her dress. The simple, form fitting wedding dress really let the flowers and all their texture pop against it!

Flowers: Spring Garden Theme

A spring garden theme at The Manor House in May? Say less, I’m there. Avery wanted a seasonal, fresh look to the “blush and sage” color palette. She loves peonies and ranunculus so I made sure to include plenty of each into the bouquets. The bouquets featured all locally grown, seasonal flower: peonies, poppies, lilac, ranunculus (the Hanoi variety is a stunner!), forget me not (for that pop of blue!), bleeding heart, orlaya, mock orange, mint, silene, and butterfly ranunculus.

I used my favorite growers: La Flor Farm for the orlaya and ranunculus, White Center Farm and Floral for the silene and mint, and then shopped for the best local product at Seattle Wholesale Growers Market.

Clients will always ask me about the size of primary bouquets and the size of the wedding party’s bouquet. And here’s what I’ll always say: “the primary bouquet is the star of the show (apart from you, obvi) and the wedding party is there to emphasize it while looking beautiful on their own”. Avery’s bouquet was most definitely the star of the show, but each of her bridesmaids had beautiful, petite versions of hers! Each was a little different, but they all looked SO good together!!

Madeline Rose Photography took such stunning close ups of the florals…

Luke and Avery were perfection… I love the soft colors of the flowers with the fabric of the veil. It was a really warm day for May, but The Manor House has enough shade and cool areas that the heat didn’t bother anyone or the flowers.

And look how well Avery is holding her bouquet! If you want to know how to hold your wedding bouquet, check out my blog: The Perfect Way to Hold Your Wedding Bouquet

Centerpieces: Potted Plants

GardeNeen Containers (Luke’s mom!) did all the centerpieces and potted plants. The fresh greens lent itself to the garden design and guests could take the plants home afterwards!

I loved the intimate, outdoor, almost vintage feel of Luke and Avery’s portraits. The Manor House has so much brick and timeless plants that the whole vibe felt very homey and authentic. They slipped out of the reception at 8:15 for sunset photos. The sun set that day at 8:47, so that was perfect timing to get the golden light! Madeline Rose is a master at creating timelines and she includes film photography with her digital wedding photography package.

Peep the show at the Lynwood theatre!

“Meghan did a beautiful job with our wedding bouquets, boutonnières, and corsages! She had a beautiful mix of requested flowers as well as gorgeous seasonal flowers, and nailed our colors! Would absolutely recommend!!”
