Zack + Faye’s Summer Wedding at The Hall at Fauntleroy
Delightful summer-inspired colors + greenery in abundance
Summer in Seattle is nothing if not lively and energetic, everything and everybody bursting with excitement and desperation to take advantage of the glorious weather while we’re graced with its presence. Zack and Faye envisioned a classy yet comfortable gathering to embrace the mid-July sunshine, finding ways to elevate their decor and details while also maintaining that laid-back vibe we all thrive on come the summer months. Initially they weren’t quite sure of what they were looking for floral-wise, so they turned to me to lend a creative eye and breathe life into their bright and beautiful garden-inspired dream.
I opted for a selection of florals that matched their vivid color palette, yet still kept that low-key, laid-back tone, avoiding too many bold pops of color that might distract from the breathtaking natural beauty of the venue. Cornflower blue blooms provided gentle accents throughout Faye’s bouquet that perfectly matched her bridesmaids’ dresses, as well as the groomsmen’s ties. Organically mixed in with this delightful, summery shade of blue were rich shades of yellow, hints of pink and purple, bright white daisies, and greenery abounding.
Curious what it would look like to make greenery the star of your show, rather than florals themselves? Take a peek at this Forest-Inspired Winter Wedding to see how I crafted a whimsical winter bouquet without a flower in sight.
A bouquet that stole the show
When Faye asked for a bouquet that was large and in charge, that’s exactly what she got—and probably an arm workout, too. I intentionally designed her bouquet to be bursting with color, greenery, and blooms of all sizes, creating a seamless blend of textures and patterns that ultimately made for a stunner of an arrangement. Hanging down from the stems were a pair of dusty blue ribbons to match the day’s colors, and she did a killer job carrying this beast around all day. The size of your bouquet is always something we can chat about and customize to your liking, whether you’d like to keep it small or go big like Faye!
Asymmetrical arbor arrangements + delicate table decor
Zack and Faye’s gathering had many highlights, but my favorite part had to be the arbor pieces featured in their ceremony. The Hall at Fauntleroy offers such a gorgeous ceremony space on a grassy, tree-lined lawn, with an extra long wooden arbor that spans across the altar. For Zack and Faye’s ceremony, I put together a pair of asymmetrical pieces that matched Faye’s bridal bouquet (but beat it out size-wise), one sitting atop the arbor in the corner and one hugging the center of the opposite beam. Arranging your arbor installations in a slightly off-center or asymmetrical manner is such an easy way to create a unique look, and one that’s sure to stun your guests as they watch you tie the knot between them!
The evening concluded with a stunning reception under the twinkling lights of chandeliers, where I had fun decorating each and every table with its own unique centerpiece; some bud vases and others bigger centerpiece arrangements. The individual buds placed atop each guest’s napkin added a small but impactful touch, and was a fabulous way to use up the flowers that remained after completing the day’s larger arrangements.
Sweet words from the couple
I can’t thank this sweet bride and groom enough for the incredibly kind review they left me after the day was over—grateful beyond words to have been a part in their celebration.
"My husband and I absolutely LOVED the florals that Meghan did for our wedding. Her flower and color choices were totally perfect. They matched beautifully with the venue and the style of our outfits/overall look of the event. They were stunning, but also didn't distract - they complemented and elevated the style of the space really nicely.
We also appreciated how patient and helpful Meghan was in the planning process. We didn't have a super clear idea of what we wanted up front, and she did a great job narrowing in and figuring out our vision. Her creativity and aesthetic eye majorly helped us out as we were trying to dial in what look we ultimately wanted.
We also appreciated Meghan for her great, clear, and timely communication - it was easy to connect with her, and she made the logistics of the process easy to navigate. And I would also add that we loved in general how kind, friendly, and easygoing her "vibe" was. Meghan's positive and gentle energy was much appreciated as we were in the thick of wedding planning stress.
We most definitely would recommend Meghan for wedding (or other event) florals!"
