Romantic Wedding Inspiration at Cathedral | Ballard, Seattle
Working alongside fellow wedding vendors on a styled bridal shoot has got to be one of my favorite ways to fill my creative cup. There’s nothing as fulfilling as collaborating on one unique vision, and seeing it come to life after months of planning, dreaming, and brainstorming—what an honor to be invited to design the florals for this stunning shoot at Cathedral, which just so happens to be a favorite Ballard wedding venue of mine. It was technically a vow renewal for this sweet couple who modeled for us, but all the bridal inspiration will have you drooling and picturing your own wedding at Cathedral.

A Bridal-Inspired Vow Renewal at Cathedral
A styled session brimming with elegance
Taking place in the middle of a beautiful Seattle spring, this shoot was designed with both elegance and historic charm in mind. The elevated, rustic atmosphere of Cathedral paired beautifully with the sophistication of the décor, the outfits, and the florals, adding just a subtle spark of luxury and glam to this charming venue. The bride wore an absolutely stunning gown from the Wedding Bell, featuring layers upon layers of fluffy tulle, gorgeous floral appliques, and loose sleeves fell gently over her skin. Her rich, brown waves cascaded across her shoulders, one side pinned up ever so delicately with a sparkling hairpiece, and really brought a classic feel to her look. What a stunner of a bride from head to toe—and she made this luxurious style look so effortless!
Organic, Spring-inspired florals
Obviously the florals were my favorite part of this shoot—who would’ve thought ;) I kept the floral elements fairly simple, built with a foundation of clean whites and lush greens, a few vibrant yellows sprinkled in to add a bit of spring flair. The golden tones of the tulips in the bridal bouquet matched many of the details of the day, including the personalized wax seals used for the invite envelopes, as well as the golden tones of the silverware that dotted the dinner table + the flames of the candlesticks.
Florals for the day included the bouquet for the bride, a sprawling boutonniere for the groom, and various installations to match—one framing the ceremony altar atop the exposed brick walls, one surrounding the exceptional three-tier cake, and one decorating the ice cream truck standing outside of the venue. It was a pleasure getting to incorporate my love for greenery into this shoot, really focusing on the organic elements of the foliage rather than cramming too many blooms in there. And, as always, every single piece of each design was created with locally & seasonally-grown flowers!
About Cathedral, a Historic Ballard Wedding Venue
Nestled right in the heart of Ballard, Cathedral is a really unique and breathtaking venue designed for intimate celebrations just like this one. Historic charm meets urban elegance at Cathedral, the building featuring two separate floors with bar areas, modern industrial furnishings, and plenty of natural light that looks fabulous against the dark finishes. You’ll forget that you’re anywhere near the bustling downtown area of Seattle, but you’ll still have easy access to all the hotspots in Seattle—great for any guests who are coming in from out of town and want to explore!
And I would be remiss not to mention one of my all-time favorite things about Cathedral: 100% of their profit is donated to charity. That’s right—100%. Cathedral has a big list of local charities that they enjoy working with, and every dime that doesn’t go toward venue expenses, employees, tax, all that jazz goes directly to the causes they choose to support. What an amazing thing to know that your wedding is not only giving YOU memories to last a lifetime, but is also contributing to the community in such incredible ways!
Wedding packages at Cathedral begin at $5,500 for all-day celebrations from June-November, and include a variety of services + amenities to make your day as smooth as possible, including complimentary tables, chairs, glassware, kitchen space, even an on-site host for assistance during your big day.
